What this service is

TabTheCode is a study aid for professional certification exams: NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II, and the NERC System Operator certifications. It gives you practice questions, drills that target your weak areas, a timed exam simulator, spaced-repetition review, and an estimate of how ready you are.

It is a practice tool. It is not the exam, not a substitute for the published standards, and not a course of instruction.

We are independent

TabTheCode is an independent study aid and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NFPA, NICET, or NERC. NFPA 72® is a registered trademark of the National Fire Protection Association. NICET® is a registered trademark of the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies. NERC is a registered trademark of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. Those names are used only to say which exams we prepare you for.

Your account

You need an account to use the service, and you must give a working email address. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself. Two-step login is available in Settings and we recommend it.

One account is for one person. Accounts are not to be shared, sold, or passed around a crew.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 16.

What a purchase is

There is a free tier, and it needs no card. Paid plans are one-time purchases: you pay once, you get access for a fixed window, and it ends. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and we do not keep a payment method to charge you again. Nothing needs cancelling because nothing recurs.

Current plans and their access windows:

• NERC Balancing & Interchange Operator: $299, 12-month access.

When your window ends, your account returns to the free tier. Your history, review deck and progress stay where they are. Prices can change, but never for something you have already bought.

Refunds

Until that is settled: if the product is not what you expected, email us and we will sort it out.

We do not guarantee you will pass

No. No honest tool can, and we would be wary of anyone who says otherwise. We give you a readiness estimate, and an estimate is all it is: not a pass probability, not a prediction, and not a promise. It is built from how you have answered practice questions, which is useful and is not the same thing as the exam.

Passing depends on your preparation, the exam you sit, and the certifying body’s own scoring. None of those are ours. Nothing in this service is professional engineering advice, and it does not replace the published standards you are being examined on.

What you may not do

The question bank is the product. Most of this section is about protecting it.

• Do not scrape, crawl, bulk-download, or otherwise systematically extract questions, answers, explanations, or citations, whether by hand, by script, or by any automated means.
• Do not republish, redistribute, resell, sublicense, or share the questions or explanations, in whole or in part, anywhere.
• Do not use the content to train, fine-tune, or evaluate a machine learning model.
• Do not share your account, or use one account to serve several people.
• Do not attempt to reach data that is not yours, probe or bypass security controls, or interfere with the service for anyone else.
• Do not reverse engineer the service except where the law says you may regardless of what a contract says.

We rate-limit question delivery to make bulk extraction impractical. If we see an account being used to harvest the bank, we will close it.

Who owns what

The questions, explanations, drills, software and design are ours or our licensors’. Buying access buys you a personal, non-transferable right to use them to study, for the length of your access window. It does not transfer ownership of anything.

We do not reproduce the text of NFPA 72 or the NERC standards. Our questions cite the document and section where an answer lives so you can look it up in your own copy, which you need and which we do not supply. Those standards remain the property of their publishers.

Your study data

Your answers, progress and review deck are yours. We use them to run the service for you: choosing your next questions, scheduling review, and estimating readiness. We may use aggregated, de-identified statistics, such as how a question performs across everyone who has seen it, to improve the bank. That never identifies you.

If you report a problem with a question, we may use what you wrote to fix it.

The Privacy Policy sets out what we collect and who else sees it.

Availability

We aim to keep the service up and will not promise it never goes down. We may change features, and we may retire them. If we withdraw something you have paid for during your access window, contact us and we will make it right.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using the service whenever you like. Deletion of your account is currently by request. See the Privacy Policy, which says plainly that the self-service button does not exist yet.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, particularly the extraction and sharing rules above. If we close a paid account for a breach, we do not owe a refund for the remaining window. If we close one for any other reason, we will refund the unused part.

Disclaimer

The service is provided “as is”. We work hard on the accuracy of the question bank and we verify content against a specific version of a specific document, but we do not warrant that it is free of errors, that it matches the version of a standard in force on your exam date, or that it is fit for any particular purpose. If you find a mistake, tell us. There is a report button on every question, and we would rather know.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost profits or opportunities, or for a failed exam attempt, a missed certification, or anything that follows from one. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud, and consumer rights you have by statute are not affected.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The dates at the top will change, and for anything material we will tell you by email rather than quietly editing the page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it. A change never applies retroactively to a purchase you have already made.
